The difference between Icelandic Skyr and Greek Yogurt

New Dannon Light & Fit Icelandic Style Skyr Yogurt cup

I’m proud to partner with Light & Fit® to bring you this post. I was compensated for my time. As always, all opinions are my own and I only work with brands I love and use with my family.

Yogurt fans raise your hands! If you are like me, it’s a staple in your life. I eat yogurt as part of my breakfast, lunch and snacks. I also use it in many of my recipes both savory and sweet to add protein and creaminess. It’s no secret that I’ve always loved the taste of Light & Fit® (and so does everyone in my house). There are probably 15 containers in my fridge right now 🙂 That’s why I’m so excited to introduce you to the new Light & Fit® Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt!

What’s the difference between Icelandic Style Skyr and Greek Yogurts? (Skyr is pronounced “skeer”)

Skyr is an Icelandic-style cultured yogurt product. Both Icelandic and Greek style yogurts are strained yogurts, which make them thicker than regular yogurt, though Icelandic-style yogurts tend to be even thicker and have higher protein levels. Icelandic-style Yogurts also tend to be less tart than Greek-style Yogurts.

How does Light & Fit’s Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt compare to other Light & Fit yogurts?

Like all Light & Fit yogurts, their Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt is made with nonfat milk. They created unique and tasty flavors as you’ve come to expect from Light & Fit including Peach Passion Fruit, Blueberry Acai and Vanilla Chai. It’s also available in Plain so you can use it as a blank canvas to add all your favorite toppings.

The Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt is the thickest yogurt yet and contains more protein than other Light & Fit yogurts with 0 grams added sugar*

The yummiest and easiest ways to enjoy Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt:

As someone who works from home most days, I always keep yogurt on hand for a snack break. These new flavors are SOOOO yummy, I’m having trouble picking a fave. This week it’s Peach Passion Fruit, last week was Vanilla Chai.

For office dwellers, it packs so easily in your insulated lunch bag. My husband takes one almost daily to help stave off hunger for his commute home.

For late night eaters, it’s a simple way to have a bite before bed to avoid the midnight munchies.

I love to add strawberries, blackberries, raspberries or blueberries to the plain Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt with high fiber, whole grain cereal for a quick fiber and protein-filled breakfast.

There are so many reasons to try this new Icelandic Style Skyr Nonfat Yogurt!

My top 3 are:

1. The fabulous flavors and thick, creamy texture.
2. The nutritional profile with 0g added sugar* and 15-16 grams of protein
3. The ease of finding it in my local supermarket in New Jersey without having to shop in a specialty store.

If you try some for yourself, please leave me a comment with your favorite flavor and how you fit skyr into your healthy lifestyle.

And if you are a Light and Fit fan like I am, I’ve got lots of other tips and recipes to enjoy breakfast, lunch and snacks with Light and Fit Greek Yogurt.
