Summer Fancy Food Show 2016

I just returned from an action-packed day in NYC and along the way, I discovered some really fantastic foodie finds for you! Some are brand new, some are updates to already trusted and favorite brands. As usual, trends to follow are gluten free, vegan, lower sugar, ancient grains and superfoods. Check out my review of the Summer Fancy Food Show 2016!

Cheribundi “Light” Tart Cherry Juice

Cheribundi Light Tart Cherry Juice

Tart Cherry Juice is trendy for athletes and those looking to reduce inflammation. It’s known for having antioxidant properties as well as anti-inflammatory benefits for those with arthritis and gout. An 8 ounce serving may also help with better muscle recovery from strenuous workouts and even support restful sleep. That’s all great, but juice being juice, it does contribute calories and naturally occurring sugars to the diet. That’s why I was so excited to find Cherbundi offers a Light Tart Cherry Juice with 1/3 of the calories of their original (80 calories for 8 fluid ounces) and packing 40 cherries per serving. Sweet!

Jica Chips

Jica Chips

I love jicama as a veggie. (Pronounced HEE-KA-MA) If you’ve never tried it, it’s an ancient root vegetable that tastes like a cross between an apple and a potato. I was so excited to find Jica Chips made from baked jicama! They are available in 6 tasty flavors including Sea Salt, Smoked BBQ, Chili Lime, White Cheddar, Spicy Soy Ginger and Cinnamon Sugar. All fabulous with 30% fewer calories, 5x more fiber and 80% less fat than potato chips. Each bag contains only 100-110 calories and 1.5-2.5g of fat with 5g of fiber and 2g of protein. They are perfect for crunchy snacking on the go, especially for summer road trips where you need non-perishables to take along.

Bai

Drink Bai Summer Fancy Food Show 2016

Drink Bai

I have been a superfan of Bai for a few years. Let’s face it, I love drinking water but it gets boring sometimes and I look for something to satisfy my sweet tooth without packing tons of calories from sugar. Enter Drink Bai! Not only do they have amazingly delicious and unique flavors but the sweetness comes from stevia and erythritol, both naturally occurring sweeteners. The whole 16 oz bottle contains only 10 calories and 2g of sugar, with a bonus boost of natural caffeine from coffeefruit (about 70mg per bottle which is equivalent to 2 cups of green tea). I don’t know how to choose a favorite flavor but I will admit that the Molokai Coconut is unbelievable mixed with some Malibu rum! These are such amazing additions to smoothies and smoothie bowls, I’m having a lot of fun playing in my kitchen 🙂 Also try Bai Bubbles for a refreshing, natural alternative to diet soda. I’d love to hear what you choose as your favorite flavor, definitely check them out!

Victoria Fine Foods-Premium Marinara Sauce made with Avocado Oil

Victoria Fine Foods Marinara with Avocado Oil

Sauces made by Victoria are staples in my kitchen. I easily go through a few jars per week from pasta to pizzas, to eggs poached in marinara sauce- it’s so good! Victoria is now offering Premium Marinara made with antioxidant-rich avocado oil. It tastes delicious, just like the marinara sauce I’ve been enjoying forever, but with the heart health benefits of avocado oil. It’s also certified vegan, Non-GMO Project verified, gluten free and Kosher. I love that the ingredients are so simple that they are printed on the front of the jar: 100% Italian tomatoes, fresh garlic, basil and onions, sea salt and spices with no added sugars. Check out the low sodium line, too-yes!

Dr. McDougall’s Right Foods Quinoa Salads

Dr. McDougall’s Right Foods Quinoa Salads

I recently came across these tasty, super convenient quinoa salads from Dr. McDougall’s Right Foods in my local supermarket. They saved me on two recent business trips when I needed something easy but healthy to eat on the plane. Just ask the flight attendant for hot water when the beverage cart comes around and you have an instant, protein and fiber packed lunch. I tried the Black Bean Quinoa Salad and the Pistachio Citrus Quinoa Salad, both were excellent. I can’t wait to try the new Sweet Potato Quinoa Salad! You can also find gluten-free soups, soup cups, oatmeal and superfood cereals. They even make a gluten-free ramen!

I hope you enjoyed my recap from the Summer Fancy Food Show 2016. I have no financial affiliations with any of the companies mentioned at the time this blog was written.
