365 Snacks for Every Day of the Year is the go-to reference for anyone who loves to snack!

365 Snacks for Every Day of the Year

Snacking is a huge part of our calorie and nutritional intake. Unfortunately, many snacks we consume are from vending machines, convenience stores or just all around processed junk food. Luckily, my fellow RD and friend Sarah Koszyk created the only snack resource you will ever need. In 365 Snacks for Every Day of the Year, Sarah has created an amazing list of snacks that will fit into any lifestyle. Some are grab and go, others are tasty pairings and many are simple, nutritious recipes to help you ADD more healthy foods into your day instead of wasting calories on highly processed, high sugar and fat snacks.

Each snack in the book contains 250 calories or less so there’s something for everyone. If you eat lunch at noon and dinner at 8pm, you likely need a larger snack while a lower calorie nibble will suffice if your meals are spaced closer together or you need something to tide you over after a workout until you can eat a real meal.

I love that Sarah combines as many food groups as possible in each snack to maximize the nutritional punch. There are tons of fruits and veggies, nuts, beans, low and nonfat dairy in clever combinations. In fact, many options would make a quick breakfast or you could combine two lower calorie snacks to create a meal.

Some of my favorites are:

Cauliflower Casserole for 130 calories
Corn on the Cob with Greek Yogurt and Parmesan for 165 calories
Fresh Figs with Goat Cheese and Pecans for 155 calories
Veggie Tortilla Wrap with Edamame Hummus for 115 calories
Jicama with Fresh Mango for 130 calories
Peanuts in the shell (my recent fave way to eat them) and a mini Babybel Light cheese round for 150 calories
Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Wrap for 190 calories
Grilled Peaches with Cinnamon and Slivered Almonds for 105 calories

I love that this book provides a practical mix of snacks from no prep to something you can make on the weekends when you have more time. I also appreciate some brand recommendations for when you are running through the supermarket or convenience store and don’t have time to scour food labels.
