It’s always a challenge to distill your thoughts, priorities, hopes, dreams and goals into a single word. A bunch came to mind as I looked ahead to 2019. Then I found the one word that fit perfectly…SAVOR.

My Word for 2019: SAVOR
The dictionary defines SAVOR as:
transitive verb. 1 : to give flavor to : season. 2a : to have experience of : taste. b : to taste or smell with pleasure : relish. c : to delight in : enjoy savoring the moment.
For me, SAVOR holds many meanings:
1. Food. (Duh!) I want to enjoy my food more and SLOW DOWN to SAVOR the flavor, something I’m pretty terrible at quite honestly.
2. Work. I’m fortunate to have built a business I love with the opportunity to work with so many cool and inspiring people. I want to SAVOR my work with clients, both corporate and individual. Travel is an exciting aspect of what I do and it’s something to SAVOR as each trip might be to a place I’ll likely never revisit. Plus, I SAVOR the special experiences I share with fellow RDs friends who I usually only see once or twice a year.
3. Family. (This probably should have been first.) It’s too easy to bury my face in my phone and miss the little things. My son is in college and my daughter just started high school. Time with them is precious and I aim to SAVOR more of the simple moments as well as the monumental ones. Hubs and I have a solo vacation planned, something we haven’t done in ages. I plan on SAVORING each day with him too, without the tech glued to my hand.
4. Self-care. Another skill I need to practice. This year, I plan to SAVOR downtime and create more of it. I pledged to treat myself to a monthly massage, I’ll check in later to see if I keep that promise.
Please share your words and plans for 2019!!
